The Bedroom A Forgotten Room

It appears that the bedroom is the most neglected room in the house when it comes to redecorating and this could be because all of the decorating emphasis is usually spent on those areas that are seen by other people like visitors and guests. The decorating budget goes to areas with more visibility and the bedroom isn’t usually open to the public. So bedroom updates are few and far between.

But when you look at how much time you spend in a bedroom, well it’s a lot of time. Even if you are sleeping there are times when you’re awake and just go to the room to relax. This can be your sanctuary to get away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Most people will have an outdated look in their bedroom, and absolutely no focal point. But you can change this around.

So changing the bedroom is not that hard of a task all you need to do is to take the time. Of course you will need to figure out just how much you can spend on the project before you go about starting it. See how much you can spend and than get started.

You don’t need a lot of money when redoing your bedroom so don’t feel like you may not have enough to redo that forgotten room. After figuring out the budget think of what kind of style you want for your new room. Of course most likely you will be changing the colors in the room. Remember that a great way to save some money is to only paint one wall in the room. This will mean less paint that you will need to buy and by all means make sure you paint it yourself.

So you don’t have money to buy an extra bed, that’s ok, because all you need to do is change the headboard. You can do so by buying some fabric and recovering the headboard. It won’t take you long and you will change the look of the bed creating what will look like a brand new bed.

Adding in some real flowers to the bedroom will not only make it look brighter but will have a nice aroma in the room.

Another relatively inexpensive “fix” is to purchase new area rugs in colors and patterns different from the current combinations. You might replace one large area rug with two smaller ones of different patterns and colors. Not only does this add color to the room, it also gives you a warm place to lay your feet on when you get out of bed.

Changing the furniture around to a new way is a great idea and may actually add more space to your room. Try it a new way and see how much different the room looks than.

By simply changing the bed sheets you can change the look of the room. Or add some throw pillows onto the old sheets and see how they look it will cost you a lot less money.

If space is an issue and clutter is a continuing problem, consider investing in an under-the-bed storage unit. Some of these utilize casters to make the units easy to use. The units can be used to store off-season clothing or extra linens and bed coverings.

If you have one wall that stands out because you have nothing on it just add a nice drape on the wall. It will living up the wall and the whole room.

Though the bedroom is usually ignored when it comes to redecorating you should really try and change it around. Yes it won’t be seen by others but to make a nice sanctuary for yourself you can spend a little money.
