Paint Your Bedroom a Beautiful New Shade- This is probably one of the fastest ways to create a new look. Consider a color that may seem a little out of the ordinary for you. The new darker shades work very well in a bedroom, as long as it is not too small. You can purchase a can of good quality paint that doesn’t require a primer at your local hardware store for about $20. If you are painting over a darker color, you may have to put up two coats.

Add an Area Rug- An area rug can quickly change the feel of any room. You can find some fantastic area rugs for much less than you might think. Check around at your local consignment or thrift shop, as well. A new area rug may run you about fifty bucks if you watch the sales ads. Granted, this won’t be one of the best quality rugs, but for now, it will work just fine. Plan your paint color around one of the colors in your rug to bring everything together.

Accent the bed some more by placing an area rug on its side or at its foot. Waking up to the feel of lush texture is an energizer. Sitting on the bedroom floor too will count as life’s simple pleasure, plus a space-saver with the possibility of doing without a chair or couch, especially if there’s limited space. You don’t really need a Persian or Oriental rug. Save those supreme quality rugs for the living room. For now, you’ll be able to get nice area rugs just the same with a limited budget.

Look for New Window Treatments -If you sew, you can create a beautiful set of curtains for just a few dollars. If you don’t sew, then you can find some very nice curtains at your local discount store. You also may want to check some of the online auction sites to see if you can find exactly what you are looking for.

Window treatments – don’t neglect the windows! A pretty curtain, window blinds, valance or drapes can make a difference. Use a color or design that goes with the rest of the room. Creating that dim, intimate look is not difficult with a window treatment to block off the sunlight.

Add a Couple of Plants- For those are good keeping plants alive indoors (and this is not everyone!) a couple of plants will make your bedroom feel warm and inviting. Choose those that don’t require much watering, such as pretty flowering cacti. Make sure you protect your furniture from any possible water leaks.
