Creating A Little Fisherman’s Getaway

Making your child’s room extra special is a gift to him. He will have a place at home to call his own, which is no less fun, playful and comfortable. If your son is a fisherman at heart, he will be happy to find his room transformed into a fisherman island getaway.

Start by creating the beach look. Paint the walls with the colors of the sea, waves and sand. Blue, green, cream and white should be the room’s motif. Using a sponge will help you make gentle waves on the wall and a bristle brush will help make the grains of sand. Creating more pictures reminiscent of the beach life will boost the room’s fun theme. If you’re not much of an artist, making use of photos or artworks is a great alternative.

Use stuffed fish or fish cutouts as wall decorations. Attach them with mounting hooks and the “water” will have a bounty of excited fish leaping up to greet everyone in the room.

A boat is a fisherman’s bestfriend. Having one in your child’s room will transform his room into a fisherman’s ultimate hideaway. A flat bottom boat is the ideal choice, but if you can’t find one, place a wooden frame on the side of the boat so that the boat can easily lean on the wall. Choose your boat decor carefully to ensure that there is enough space left even with quite a big object in the room. Opt for a spacious room instead of a crowded playroom for your child. You can even make the boat your child’s very own bed! Remove the seats and use a plank in their place. Cushion with a mattress and beddings in matching colors, such as in blue or green, or printed with “under the sea” designs. Your child will be so thrilled to sleep and take his naps. Lulling him to sleep will be a real breeze every time (once he gets over his excitement, that is).

To complete the look, decorate the floor with an area rug in sand or water color. Matching it with the tan, green or blue of the room will make the space more realistic and coordinated. Compared to a carpet flooring, area rug is much easier to maintain and definitely less expensive. You can spend for more fisherman related decors to accessorize the room. If you prefer an area rug with pictures, there are those designed with a beach theme, animals (fishes in particular) and the ocean. Your child will feel like on a vacation everyday. He will love his new room away from home!

Our best hint for Home Design, is to use area rugs – and the boys room area rugs will suit any modern furnishings.
